Nova Scotia NDP officially confirms Claudia Chender as new party chief

The Nova Scotia NDP has formally preferred a new leader at a celebration convention in Halifax.

Claudia Chender, who ran unopposed, officially secured the title following an online celebration vote that began previous Monday.

The 45-yr-previous former attorney was initial elected to stand for the using of Dartmouth South in 2017.

Chender was the party’s home leader in the legislature when she declared her candidacy in February.

She replaces Gary Burrill, who declared final November that he would step down soon after major the New Democrats considering that February 2016.

The NDP, which hasn’t held federal government in Nova Scotia considering the fact that 2013, has completed 3rd in the very last two provincial elections and presently holds 6 seats in the 55-seat legislature.
