Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin stated he will look for legislation on abortion

RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin stated Friday that he will seek legislation to ban most abortions soon after 15 weeks of being pregnant in remarks soon following the U.S. Supreme Courtroom overturned Roe v. Wade.

The Republican explained to The Washington Post he has asked 4 Republican lawmakers to draft the laws. He informed the Post that though he favors banning most abortions right after 15 months, a cutoff at 20 months may well be important to develop consensus in the divided Virginia legislature. He reiterated his aid for exceptions in circumstances of rape, incest or when the daily life of the mother is at danger.

In a assertion, he explained he’s requested for laws to be launched when the Normal Assembly convenes in January.

The statement by Youngkin claimed the significant courtroom “has rightfully returned power to the people today and their elected representatives in the states.”

“I’m happy to be a pro-lifetime Governor and strategy to take just about every action I can to shield existence. The truth is, Virginians want fewer abortions, not far more abortions,” he said in the statement.

Youngkin claimed he has asked two senators and two users of the Residence of Delegates to “find locations exactly where we can agree and chart the most prosperous route forward.”
